The mayor welcomes Varg Vikernes, aka "The Count" to the municipality in seven years.

Convicted murderer Varg Vikernes, better known as "The Count", has bought a small farm in Bø in Telemark, and will move there when he has finished his sentence, writes "Dagbladet".

Vikernes was sentenced to 21 years in prison for murder, and for burning down several churches. Now he has seven years left in prison before moving into the small farm.

Mayor of Bø, Arne Storhaug, says to "NRK" that it is easy to be concerned when they know what kind of background Vikernes has.

"You can be a little hesitant, but when people have settled their social bill and are going out into society again, you have to accept anyone in a proper way", he says.

Many opinions

He said that people in Bø probably have their thoughts on Vikernes, but believes that everyone deserves a second chance.

"There are many who have committed ugly acts and who are going out into society after serving their sentences. Everyone has the opportunity to have a fresh start in life", he said.

"I understand that people can be skeptical about this" (Arne Storhaug, mayor of Bø)

There are seven years until Varg Vikernes comes to settle in the municipality, and they want to prepare in their own way.

"Of course we have to, because we want to be as prepared as possible".

"Do you think it can have some advertising effect that he is now thinking of settling in a municipality?"

"Yes, I see it, but I don't think we should use it actively in any way", says Storhaug.
