The Basic Rules provide a complete role-playing game focused on exploration and adventuring.
The Expert Rules build on that foundation by adding mechanics for domain play and broader campaign development.
The Advanced Rules offer even more options, along with restrictions on player characters and an increased emphasis on time as a tool for the GM to run deeper and more engaging campaigns.
The restrictions create meaningful choices. Without limits, every path is equally viable, and decisions lose weight. With restrictions, players must think, adapt, and strategize – and success will feel earned. It is not what a character can do that makes him interesting; it is what he must overcome!
Although some of the concepts introduced in the
Advanced Rules for
ReconQuest will be familiar to those who know
MYFAROG, many are entirely new – and everything old has been reworked in what I believe is a much better way. I have done a great deal of research to get things right, and I have had more fun working on the
Advanced Rules than, I think, any other game book I have ever written. The result exceeds my expectations, and I hope you will enjoy playing with these rules as much as I did making them!
